inSITEs from Elizabeth Sage, Head of Education & Certification
We’re continuing getting to know some of the newest faces leading the SITE community at the start of the new year. Featured today is a short interview with SITE’s new Head of Education and Certification Elizabeth Sage.
It’s a profile packed with podcast recommendations, a sneak peek into her plans for SITE’s education offerings, and plenty more!
Q: What made you interested in this role with SITE?
A: I’m a forever learner, so the opportunity to help shape and elevate the educational offerings for SITE, and in turn make a positive impact on the industry overall, really appealed to me.
Q: What goals or top priorities do you have for SITE's education offerings in 2024?
A: My goal is to provide the most relevant and impactful education for our SITE community. I would love for our education offerings to be the main reason why people join SITE!
Q: What are you most excited about or looking forward to from next month's Global Conference program?
A: I’m really looking forward to visiting Istanbul for the first time and experiencing the beautiful culture of Türkiye that I’ve heard so much about. I am also excited to meet many of our SITE members and volunteer leaders in person!
Q: Who or what is your go-to source for your own professional development/continuing education?
A: I love podcasts, in particular the “Experts on Expert” episodes of Armchair Expert. I have been introduced to so many fascinating bodies of work through that podcast! Drawing connections from non-traditional sources of inspiration and applying them to own professional/personal life is a fun hobby of mine.
I’m also a prolific reader (there are many more books on my shelf after listening to the authors on the aforementioned podcast!). I find my biggest source of learning to come from people I talk to — everyone has a unique experience and taking the time to listen with an open mind continues to enrich my knowledge bank.
Q: Did you make a New Year's resolution this year, and will you share it here if you set one?
A: Similar to my colleague Dallas, rather than resolutions I typically select a one-word theme for the year. This year my word is “focus.”
