I joined SITE in 1988 as it was the only organization focused specifically on all aspects of incentive travel. I'd been in the industry for over 10 years and discovered what had been missing in my career.
After attending and speaking at my first SITE Conference in Vancouver BC, I came away with instant connections and friendships from around the world. As an industry consultant, education was a high priority. This led to me serving on the SITE Foundation Board as one of the original members, as well as two wonderful terms on the International Board of Directors and on the Northern California Board.
The connections and friendships led to opportunities of all types. However the one I'm most proud to be associated with is the CIS program. Helping Fernando Comepean create this unique program (the first-ever training program for people new to incentive travel) and see it become a global success has been incredibly rewarding. I have wonderful memories of our very first CIS seminars in Chicago and Los Cabos the following day. The feedback we received told us we were on the right track.
SITE enriched my life in many ways, mostly due to the wonderful, talented and creative people I worked with over the years. Ironically my very last job prior to retiring was doing a CIS workshop where my SITE membership started: in Vancouver BC, January 2020.
