At MPI’s annual convention in June, I facilitated a panel discussion on closing the wage gap in the hospitality industry. While the average American woman moved up in 2022 to make 82 cents for every dollar a man makes, that’s only a 7-cent gain in the last 25 years according to the Castell Project.
Also concerning is the number of women leader hires decreasing during the current economic slowdown. According to this article, “globally, women comprise nearly half of all entry-level positions but only a quarter of C-Suite roles.”
To ensure diversity and equity in business, we need to pay attention to these trends and create intentional programs to recruit, hire and retain a more diverse workforce. This is a top priority for SITE, as our board and leadership teams forge ahead with shaping our 2024-26 strategic plan. Watch this space for more to come!
