Do Good in Your Hood: A Simple Movement with Global Impact
What if making a difference didn’t require a big production, a packed schedule, or a formal plan? What if it was as simple as stepping outside your door? That’s exactly how Do Good in Your Hood began.
Originally sparked within SITE Mountain West as a small initiative tied to Good Health and Wellbeing, this idea has quickly grown into something much bigger, a movement rooted in simplicity, accessibility, and collective impact.
No stages. No sign-ups required to participate. No pressure. Just a shared commitment to do a little good, wherever you are.
The Idea is Simple:
During Earth Week (April 20–26), we’re inviting individuals and teams around the world to take part in a small but meaningful action:
- Get outside
- Take a walk
- Pick up what doesn’t belong
That’s it.
No agenda. No expectations beyond showing up and making your immediate environment just a little bit better than you found it.
Why It Matters
Small actions, when multiplied across communities, create real impact.
A single walk might not seem like much — but when hundreds (or thousands) of people participate across cities, neighborhoods, and countries, the result is powerful:
- Cleaner public spaces
- Stronger community connection
- A tangible contribution to environmental wellbeing
- A reminder that positive change doesn’t have to be complicated
It’s also an opportunity to reset, recharge, and reconnect — with nature, your community, and even your colleagues.
Participate Your Way
Whether you’re an individual looking for a mindful moment outside, or a team wanting to do something meaningful together, Do Good in Your Hood is intentionally flexible.
- Go solo and take a reflective walk
- Invite coworkers for a team activity
- Turn it into a friendly challenge
- Bring your family, friends, or neighbors
There’s no wrong way to participate — only your way.
Share Your Impact
For those who want to take it a step further, we’re encouraging participants to document and share their impact, by using the #SiteSustainableSteps.
Capture the moment:
- Photos of your cleanup
- Stories from your walk
- Number of bags collected
By sharing, you help inspire others to join in and amplify the movement.
A Movement, Not a Moment
Do Good in Your Hood isn’t about one week — it’s about building a mindset. A reminder that doing good doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.
This Earth Week, step outside, take a walk, and make an impact — right where you are. Participants are encouraged to share photos, stories, and bags collected—helping show the impact across communities around the world.
