What's the #1 piece of travel advice you'd give to someone who has never been to Türkiye before?

Turkey is a captivating blend of ancient history, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality. 

Exploring Türkiye is an incredible experience, and my top piece of advice for first-time travelers to this enchanting country would be to embrace its rich diversity. Turkey offers a unique blend of old and new, and by being open to its various facets, you'll create memories that will last a lifetime.

Make sure to immerse yourself in the local culture by trying traditional Turkish cuisine like kebabs, baklava,Turkish delight and black tea. Don't miss the chance to visit iconic sites such as the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, the ancient city of Ephesus, and the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia. 

Also, take time to connect with the friendly locals, as their warmth and hospitality can truly enhance your journey. 

Can you name a cannot-miss highlight from this year's Global Conference program you'd recommend that everyone attend? 

I firmly believe that every part of this conference is unmissable. Undoubtedly though, my session titled 'My Journey with Atatürk' is definitely not to be missed (just a bit of light-hearted humor!).  

In all seriousness, SITE events are structured around four foundational pillars: connect, learn, discover, and shape. This year in Istanbul, we're excited to introduce what I consider the fifth pillar: 'Fun.' 

The keynote sessions and social program are the culmination of immense teamwork, both globally and locally. 

By engaging in our outstanding sessions and exploring the remarkable venues, you'll gain more than just knowledge and connections — you'll experience the essence of what makes our events truly extraordinary.

Are there any basic Turkish phrases or customs we should know before we visit your beautiful destination? 

Visiting Istanbul and Türkiye is not just a journey through places, but also a cultural immersion. Knowing a few Turkish phrases will certainly enrich your experience and connect you more deeply with the locals.

For starters, a warm 'Merhaba' (Hello) is your key to any interaction. 

Expressing gratitude is universal and saying 'Teşekkür ederim' (Thank you) is appreciated in any context. 

If you find something delightful, don't hesitate to say 'Çok güzel' (Very beautiful).

As for customs, Turks are known for their hospitality. It's customary to accept tea or coffee when offered. It's more than just a drink; it's a symbol of friendship and hospitality. 

Also, when visiting mosques, remember to dress modestly and remove your shoes before entering.

Finally, don't forget to wish everyone 'İyi yolculuklar!' (Have a good trip!) as you explore the enchanting sights and sounds of Istanbul and beyond.

Embracing these phrases and customs will undoubtedly make your journey more memorable and enjoyable.
